Kids who just don't like P.E.

What change takes place when kids are Elementary School and jump through the hallways to get to P.E. class compared to when the get to the ages of secondary school (typically grades 6-12)? One thing that I have noticed are that a select group of students each year just do not enjoy Physical Education anymore...why is that? Is it because they are to cool? Is it because they do not like exercise? Well in my opinion I believe all students should go through school and enjoy taking the class so I would have to say most of the blame falls on the teachers. I know that sounds harsh especially since I put myself in that category but it is true. There are so many varieties of activities and games that should be played in class plus the use of small sided games. It is our job not to "complain" about the students who do not feel motivated but to find a way to get them motivated. Every student deserves an opportunity to learn life long activities that will set them up with success for the future. I have attached a few articles that post to my parents to give them if their child falls into the category of not enjoying class. I hope this post gave you a chance for a little self reflection because I know for me it took a veteran teacher to get me to do some inner thinking. Leave a comment and let me know what your thoughts are!
