Who I am

 

My name is Tucker Brown and I am a  5th year Health and Physical Education Teacher at Johnson-Williams Middle School located in Berryville Virginia.  I am a graduate of Shenandoah University in Winchester Virginia and through my time there I also played baseball for four years.  Through my time competing in collegiate athletics, I bacame aware of the right and wrong ways to better ones fitness.  Not only do I teach my students the proper ways to better themselves physically but I like to believe I practice what I preach.  I believe that if I am not at my best physically then how can I expect my students to be at their best.

 

Why I do this

 

My goal for this adventure into the world of blogging is to make myself a better educator.  The way that I believe I can achieve this is by learning from all the great educators out there.  The more that we share the more we can learn.  I will be the first to admit that I do not know every strategy there is about Physical Education or Fitness but by us sharing information and stories we can strive to be better educators.

 

What I can do for you

 

I will be 100% honest in everything that I write about and I hope you will be to.  I can do my best to try and connect educators from around the world to share their stories and stratagies.  One area I do feel I have done well with would be large class management.  Before this year I was the only Physical Education Teacher because we did not offer a Health Program.  For my first three years I have fought for this program but while I was doing that I had class sizes in the mid 60's - low 70's all by myself.  I had to adapt and overcome but I feel like I did it.  Lets get learning!
